Green Fairies

How often do you remember to turn off the lights when you leave home, work,  a classroom or an office?

Well a few of the interns here at the center thought the same thing, but wondered how many faculty and staff actually remembered to turn off the switch  when they were leaving to go home. That's were the Green Fairies come in. The Green Fairies was a mission to see how many of our faculty and staff here on campus that either taught or worked in either the Admission or Ketner building remembered to turn off their lights and other electricity before heading out. Here at Catawba College we are trying our best to reduce the use of energy used on campus and if getting a little reminder here and there will help out we have no problem doing it.

We made two sets of sticky notes, a set for those who remembered and one for those who forgot.

For the faculty or staff member's that remembered to turn off their electricity they received a green stick note stating what's in the picture below.

But for the faculty or staff member's that forgot they received a red sticky note that also stated whats below

Remember next time you leave a classroom or office don't forget to turn off all electronics because you never know when the Green Fairies will be stopping by for a visit!

Teacher Mingle

Colleen Smiley has been working on Symbaloo a website for teachers to make and share lesson plans. On March 11th here at the CENV we held a Teacher Mingle where Colleen introduced the site to other teachers and got their input on what they thought and what improvments needed to be made on Symbaloo to help all teachers have a easier and faster way to access the site.

In this picture are teachers and education students here at Catawba College discussing changes that they feel will  make the the site more easier to access for other teachers who will want to use the site as well.
